Knew Mgmt hosted its first annual CampBrom-Alota-Grom this past week at Bromley Mountain in southern Vermont. We had a total of 35 campers alongside 8 Pro/Am coaches and Friends, so the grom to coach ratio was sick! We had very little in terms of machine-made park terrain but you know what, we brought it back and utilized the awesome natural landscape of Brom for spins, butters, jibonks, tree rides, and jersey bootin’ fun!!!
Day 1 consisted of freeriding with coaches Nate Farrell, Tim Benasich, Tyler Emond, Chris Waker, Matt Bothfeld, Andy Maness, Kade Madsen, Nickalosi, and special guest coach Ross Powers. We were blessed with some Quiet
Storm walkie talkie action from the one Arthur that blessed everyone with tears of laughter throughout the day. Such runs as Thruway, Run-Around, Twister Twister, were all taken advantage of and by the end of the day there was not single shredder, from grom to coach, who didn’t have an ear to ear grin on their face.
Day 2 consisted of some more shredtacular freeriding/freestyle action in the morn and by 11am Nate Farell, Tim Benasich, and Tyler Emond brought out and erected an old monster truck tire for some jib action. Before we knew it, all 35 kids were stacked at the top of the T-bar anxiously
waiting to hit the tire. We set up and witnessed well some rather amazing yet never before seen maneuvers on the jib. We’re talking innovative buttplants, shoulder rolls, and unintentional nollie front flips! The coaches demonstrated some techy tricks and the kids eagerly followed. The three winners hoola-hooped their way to podium spots. After the tire jib, we all moved down a few hundred yards for a high ollie contest which was amazing. Tyler Emond and NFF held the height stick while a process of elimination set forth and after an hour, Connor Allen was announced the winner.
We capped off the on-snow session with a box dancing contest on the 8 footer and the groms
was thrown out to all the campers. Each camper and coach was stoked we all look forward to next were throwing down. One-footers, nose-slide
crailgrabs, blunted blunts, and many a 50-50 were thrown down. The Camp winded down with an apres’ pizza party in the old Fred Pabst (Blue Ribbon Pabst) MC’d by Nate Farrell and prizes were handed to the winners of the 3 contests while swag year’s CampBrom-Alota-Grom!
A big thanks to all the coaches (for their precious holiday time) Bromley Mountain, The Bromley Outing Club, Darkside Snowboard Shop, Chris Piatek & Right Empire, Vew-Do Balance Boards, Rome Snowboards, and Ross Powers & Podium.
CampBrom-Alota-Grom is a non-profit camp with 1/2 proceeds going towards the Bromley Outing Club Freestyle Program and 1/2 to the Ross Powers Foundation.
