Queen City Rail Jam

KeithBurlington’s Queen City Rail Jam is just the event that always seems to tame the VT and NE snowboard scene’s hunger for the shred- well, at least for a few days… This year was a little different than the past events. Superparx, (yes, with an “x”) fabricated some very legit jibs for the contest including an XL flat box to flat box combo, paralleled to a obscenely aggressive 45 ft. “Roller Coaster box” which both segued into two options; a mini wallride or a magnificently welded 6 ft high ball of steel.

Just like every rail jam and brodown showdown these days, riders were murdering it. Combos, blunts, hardways & sameways, MJ’s, switch-ups, butt-busting annihilations, jeering, cheering, high fives, pounds etc... The vibe was all there.Kade

The judges narrowed the field of 50 riders down to six finalists including three Knew riders. Kade Madsen, Tucker Speer, and Knew’s own
Mike Toohey
(Events/Marketing) all were in the finals. The finals were heated with each rider stepping it up and pumping up the crowd. John Murphy was dancing on the boxes with multiple combinations, while TJ James was attempting 270’s onto the roller coaster box. He nearly nailed it on his third try but slipped off on the last roll of the coaster. Mike Toohey was en fuego and was by far the biggest crowd pleaser. Mofo was lucky enough to shred to “Eye of the tiger” and definitely had the Rocky Tooheygo for baroque mentality and slayed the roller coaster with a 50/50 to a super clean frontside 270 over the last roll ulitmately locking into a switch front board. This trick along with Toohey’s smooth and consistent riding throughout the event proved to be victorious as he took home the first prize of $1,000. The 10% rule stood in place and well, the rest is history.

Congratulations Toohey!
